The Colorado Springs Sky Sox fell to the Omaha Royals, 8-3, at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha. With the loss, the Sky Sox fall to one game behind first place Albuquerque in the Pacific Coast League's Central Division. After starter Nelson Cruz left the game, having allowed 2 runs (both earned) in 5 innings of work, the Colorado Springs bullpen surrendered 6 runs (all earned) in the game's final 3 innings (Doug Thompson - 3 ER in 1.0 IP and Cam Esslinger - 3 ER in 2.0 IP). Leftfielder Wendall Magee led the Sox offense, collecting 3 hits including his 3rd home run of the season in the 5th inning. The Sox and O-Royals wrap up their 5-game set on Saturday when Chris Gissell (7-4, 3.69) takes the mound against Omaha's Ryan Baerlocher (4-6, 4.64).
