Everett AquaSox News Release
Everett, WA - Everett ended their five-game losing streak Wednesday night against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes as the Sox won 7-4, by the way of the long ball.
The AquaSox took an early one-run lead in the bottom of the first as Ryne Ogren was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. It was a short-lived lead, though, as a half inning later the Volcanoes put up two runs off the bats of Kevin Rivera and Jose Layer, 2-1.
The next inning Everett tied the game up in the bottom of the second via a Volcanoes wild pitch, but Salem-Keizer quickly scored two more runs in the top of the third to regain the lead, 4-2.
With the Frogs down two runs in the bottom of the third, Josh Stowers hit a go-ahead two-run home run over the left field fence to lock the score up, 4-4. An RBI double from Connor Hoover would give the AquaSox a one-run lead, 5-4. An inning later would see another AquaSox run through a sac-fly off the bat of Matt Sanders, 6-4.
Reliever Michael Plassmeyer came into the game in the fifth inning and pitched two spectacular innings, finishing with 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, and 4 SO. In the seventh, Ivan Fortunato followed Plassmeyer's lead, finishing with 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, and 2 SO. A late AquaSox solo home run from Hoover would set up a saving opportunity for Joey Gerber, who closed the game out and picked up his league-leading fourth save. The game ended 7-4, Everett.
Thursday the Frogs will continue their five-game series against Salem-Keizer. There are several promotions coming up on this homestand including Halloween Night, Pink at the Park, and Kids Day.
