EVERETT, Wash. -- The Everett AquaSox (18-10, 34-32) had their hopes of a series sweep dashed by the Eugene Emeralds (15-13, 39-27) for the third straight series between the two teams, losing an early 4-0 lead to drop the series finale 5-4.

The Frogs jumped on the Emeralds early with four runs in the second inning on a two-RBI triple by first baseman Jharmidy De Jesus, his first triple of the season, a wild pitch by Eugene starter Simon Berroa and a two-out double by Nathan Melendres. But after the Sox batted around in the second, Eugene responded by batting around in the third inning, scoring three runs on back-to-back RBI doubles and capitalizing on three Everett errors to tie the game at 4-4.

Emeralds shortstop Jace Peterson came to the plate to lead off the fourth inning and belted a blast over the center field wall for the game-winning run. Sox starter Stephen Landazuri (4-4, 4.82 ERA) was saddled with the loss, his first at home this season.

The Frogs had runners in scoring position in the fifth, sixth and seventh inning but could not get the tying run to cross the plate, retiring in order over the last two innings. The loss tightens the Sox division lead to three games over Eugene and Salem-Keizer with ten games left in the season.

Everett next begins their final home series of the season, matching up with the Yakima Bears for five games, where the AquaSox will send out right-hander Joe DiRocco (1-1, 3.98 ERA) against Bears righty Blake Perry (0-0, 0.00 ERA) at 7:05 p.m.
