Boise Hawks News Release

YAKIMA, Wash. - Kerry Jenkins golfed a walk-off RBI single just inside line in deep left field, helping the Yakima Bears pick up their second-straight extra innings win over the Boise Hawks, tonight a 7-6 victory at County Stadium.

Garrett Weber led off the tenth with a double in the left field corner, narrowly getting into the second base bag ahead of a tag from Zeke DeVoss - drawing an ejection of Boise manager Mark Johnson, arguing the call. After a walk to Justin Hilt, Tyler Bream layed down a bunt with the Hawks getting Weber at third for the first out - drawing an ejection of Yakima manager Audo Vicente, arguing the call. Jenkins followed, hitting an 0-1 pinch into the corner, scoring Hilt to complete the Bears first series sweep of 2011.

Boise had their chances all night - stranding a season high 14 men in the loss, going just 3-for-14 with men in scoring position. The Hawks scored first in the third on a Willson Contreras RBI single and starter Ben Wells took a no-hitter into the fifth, but Yakima got an RBI double by Bream and RBI singles by Tyson Van Winkle and Raul Navarro to take a 3-1 lead.

Yakima would lead 6-3 in the eighth, but Boise rallied for two in the eighth and scored the tying run in the ninth on a Rafael Lopez RBI single. The Hawks nearly took the lead in the tenth, but DeVoss, who went 4-for-4 and reached base six times, was thrown out trying to score on a Contreras infield grounder.

Paul Hoilman had two hits, including his league-leading 14th homer in the loss, while Lopez notched two hits and RBI for Boise. Jenkins went 3-for-5 with two RBI in the win for Yakima.

Boise hits the road to Keizer, Ore., meeting Salem-Keizer tomorrow night at 7:35 p.m. (MDT), with Yao-Lin Wang on the mound.
