
South Georgia Wildcats Alignment Set for 2006

South Georgia Wildcats News Release
ALBANY, GA- The arenafootball2 league office announced the 23 team league will play in a two-conference, four-division format for the 2006 season.
The South Georgia Wildcats will compete in the American Conference South Division. The South Division will consist of South Georgia Wildcats (Albany, GA), Birmingham Steeldogs (Birmingham, AL), Florida Firecats (Ft. Myers, FL), Macon Knights (Macon, GA), Tennessee Valley Vipers (Huntsville, AL) and defending ArenaCup champions Memphis Xplorers (Southaven, MS). The Albany Conquest (NY), Green Bay Blizzard, Louisville Fire, Manchester Wolves, Quad City Steamwheelers and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers will make up the East Division.
In the National Conference, the Amarillo Dusters, Arkansas Twisters, Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings, Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz, Rio Grande Valley Dorados and Tulsa Talons will represent the Midwest Division. The West Division will feature the Bakersfield Blitz, Central Valley Coyotes and expansion teams Everett Hawks, Spokane Shock and Stockton Lighting.
The playoff format for the 2006 season will remain the same as last season. Six teams from each American and National Conference qualify for the playoffs. The six qualifying teams in each conference consist of the two division champions and four Wild Cards, determined by best overall record. The winners of the Conference Championships face off in the 2006 ArenaCup in August.
The Arena Football League is entering its 20th season and the South Georgia Wildcats are entering their second season in Albany, GA. The 2006 af2 season is set to kickoff the first weekend of April.
