Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers News Release
Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers are pleased to announce the release of the team's schedule for the upcoming 2006 arenafootball2 season.
"I am most pleased with our 2006 schedule for a number of reasons most of which is that it will be a much more fan friendly schedule compared to 2005," said Pioneers GM/President Dave Berryman. "The schedule will include eight different opponents for our home games and it is much more balanced in regards to our home and away games. Our fans should find it most accommodating."
"I'm extremely excited to be in this division for 2006. I can see some great rivalries developing this season," said Pioneers Head Coach Rich Ingold. "I have a lot of experience against these teams both as a coach and a player. Manchester's head coach, Ben Bennett and I faced off in the 1988 ArenaBowl when I played in Detroit and he was in Chicago."
Ingold continues, "Louisville is obviously a great team and I can see a heated rivalry between the Pioneers and the Fire. The Albany Conquest is right up the road and a geographical rivalry has already begun. The Green Bay Blizzard was a playoff competitor from last season who I see building on that success and experience."
"Finally, comes my old team the Quad City Steamwheelers," Ingold said. "They were the team that gave me my first head coaching job. They are a team that is rich in tradition and has great fans. I'm looking forward to playing the Steamwheelers this season."
The Pioneers are gearing up for their 2006 season. Season tickets are now on sale. Anyone interested in season tickets should contact the team's ticket sales office at either (570) 270-5811 or (570) 270-5813. Pioneers season tickets are available for as low as $40.
