Nashville Sounds News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - As part of the increasing growth of their popular Faith Nights® program, the Nashville Sounds will proudly welcome the multi-platinum and three-time Grammy Award-winning recording group Jars of Clay to Greer Stadium on Tuesday, June 27 for the team's latest Faith Night event.
The Sounds have also partnered with the group's Blood:Water Mission non-profit organization to attempt to raise enough money during Tuesday's event to give an African community a well to provide them with clean and accessible water.
Tuesday's expanded Faith Night at Greer Stadium is believed to be the first known effort by a minor league team to reach out far beyond its community, region, country, and continent to make a difference in a community around the world.
In addition to donating $1 from all Faith Night tickets sold for the event, the Sounds will be collecting money throughout the game to help reach the goal of providing clean water for a village in Kenya, Africa, one of the 1,000 small towns that are targeted recipients of the Blood:Water Mission program.
Blood:Water Mission exists to promote clean blood and clean water efforts in Africa, tangibly reducing the impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, by building clean water wells, supporting medical facilities, and focusing on community and worldview transformation.
"The Sounds are honored to be partnering with Jars of Clay and Blood:Water Mission. This Faith Night is another example of the great ministry aspects of the program, both in our local Nashville community and in the global community," said Sounds general manager Glenn Yaeger.
"Over the past few seasons, our Faith Night participants have not only enjoyed great music and baseball, but their donations have provided homes to families in Nashville via Habitat for Humanity. Now this program is reaching further, and we are proud that Faith Nights will have a positive impact in Africa with Blood:Water Mission."
Aaron Sands, Director of Donor Relations and Development for Blood:Water Mission, echoes the positive sentiments about the impact of Tuesday's event and the partnership with the Sounds.
"Jars of Clay and Derek Webb are two of our main platforms to raise awareness, funds, and response, and Tuesday night is an opportunity to celebrate with our local Nashville community while proactively sharing our abundance with others in Africa," Sands said.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for Tuesday's 7 p.m. game. Opening concert act Derek Webb will take the stage at 5:30 and will be followed by Jars of Clay approximately a half-hour later.
With their appearance at Greer Stadium on Tuesday, Jars of Clay becomes the most-decorated artist to perform as part of Sounds Faith Nights® in the program's history. The concert will be the band's first public performance since emerging from the studio.
Jars of Clay is gearing up for the release of its highly-anticipated seventh studio project, Good Monsters, on September 5.
Church groups can purchase tickets for this special night for only $12. This price includes admission to the concert, reserved seat for the game, a hot dog, 20 oz. soft drink, and recognition of the group over the public address system and on the scoreboard.
Individual and season tickets, as well as group packages, are currently on sale. Call (615) 242-4371 ext. 2 or visit the Sounds' website at www.nashvillesounds.com to order or for more information.
