
Sounds Shut Out Cubs, Snap Losing Streak

Des Moines, IA - Nashville snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over the Iowa Cubs on Saturday night at Principal Park. The Sounds limited the Cubs to just three hits.
Josh Vitters had a double for Iowa, while Dave Sappelt and Anthony Rizzo each had singles. The Cubs struck out seven times, left six men on base, and were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
Iowa starter Chris Rusin pitched 6.0 shutout innings. He allowed just three hits, walked two and struck out four. Rodrigo Lopez pitched the seventh inning. Loser Casey Coleman (2-2) was tagged for three runs - two in the eighth and one in the ninth.
Reliever Juan Perez (1-0) picked up the win for Nashville.
The final game of the series is set for 1:05 p.m. Sunday. RHP Jay Jackson (1-2, 6.20) is scheduled to start for Iowa against Nashville RHP Mark Rogers (0-2, 7.50). Former Iowa Oaks star Joe Rudi will make an appearance at the ballpark, and the first 1,500 fans will receive a replica Iowa Oaks Joe Rudi jersey shirt. It is Casey's Family Day, with four tickets, four Cokes, four slices of pizza and four caps for $44. It is also DMARC Food Pantry Day. Fans who bring three canned goods will receive a general admission ticket to the game. And after the game, kids can run the bases, sponsored by Safeco Insurance. Fans can tune in to Iowa Cubs action with Deene Ehlis and Randy Wehofer on AM 940 with the pregame show beginning at 12:45 p.m.
