
Chasers Drop 'Birds

MEMPHIS, TN - Omaha hammered Memphis 12-4 Saturday night at AutoZone park in front of 11,162 fans, AutoZone Park's largest crowd of the season.
The Storm Chasers scored early and often in their win over the Redbirds, scoring in each of the first three innings and six of nine. The Chasers jumped on 'Birds starter Brian Broderick for six runs, with two solo home runs by Derrick Robinson, a two-run double by David Lough and a pair of errors through three innings and extended their lead with six more runs in the last three innings. Johnny Giavotella led Omaha, going 5-for-6 at the plate with two runs scored and one RBI while the Chasers combined for 18 hits on the night. Adron Chambers went 4-for-5 on the night with two runs scored and one RBI for the Redbirds and Zack Cox hit his second home run of the season in the loss.
Omaha's Ethan Hollingsworth picked up the win in his spot start, allowing one run on five hits over five innings while Sean O'Sullivan gave up three runs on six hits in four innings of relief for the save. Broderick took the loss, giving up six runs, four earned, on nine hits and two walks in three innings.
Memphis and Omaha wrap up their four-game series tomorrow afternoon with game time scheduled for 1:35 p.m. as the Redbirds host Bark in the Ballpark presented by Grace Animal Hospital. The day includes an appearance by Jake the Diamond Dog, free admission for dogs with paid owner, Memphis Animal Shelter adoptions available on plaza, and dollar hot dogs by King Cotton (limit four per visit).
