Nashville Sounds News Release
PHOENIX - The Milwaukee Brewers traded former Sounds All-Star pitcher Ben Hendrickson to the Kansas City Royals organization this morning in exchange for minor-league catcher Maxim St. Pierre, who was added to the Nashville spring training roster.
Hendrickson, who spent the majority of the 2005 & 2006 seasons with Nashville and was a 2006 Pacific Coast League mid-season All-Star selection, went 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA (2er/7.1ip) in five Cactus League relief outings for the Brewers this spring before being outrighted off the club's 40-man roster on March 18.
The 26-year-old right-hander excelled at the Class AAA level over the past three seasons (26-23, 3.56 ERA in 72G), but posted only a 1-10 record and 7.41 ERA in 14 games (12 starts) for Milwaukee over two big-league stints in 2004 & 2006.
St. Pierre, who will turn 27 on April 17, spent the first 10 seasons of his pro career in the Detroit Tigers' farm system before signing a minor-league deal with Kansas City this off-season. He compiled a .254 career average with 43 home runs and 331 RBIs in 762 pro games and earned All-Star nods in six straight seasons from 2000-05 while playing at the Class A and Class AA levels.
The Canadian backstop logged his first Triple-A service in 2006 with Toledo (AAA-Tigers), where he batted .202 and was a member of the International League championship club.
