The United Soccer Leagues First Division (USL-1) Seattle Sounders travel to Phoenix, Arizona to face the Arizona Sahuaros of the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) in first round action of the U.S Soccer Federation's National Championship, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday, June 10. Kickoff at Grand Canyon University is set for 7:30pm.

Seattle will look to repeat the success they had last year in the 2007 Open Cup. In route to the semifinals, the Sounders beat both the Colorado Rapids and Chivas USA of MLS, before losing 2-1 to Dallas FC in extra time.

Sebastien Le Toux's five goals in the tournament were the most since Abdul Thompson Conteh of DC United scored five in 2001.

Seattle's first round opponent, the Arizona Sahuaros, qualified for the Open Cup by advancing to the USASA Region IV open tournament final; a match they won over Hollywood United, 1-0. Juan Rojas, one of the older players on the team at 28, scored the winning goal off an assist from David Hague.

During the Sahuaros qualification run, the four games played in the Region IV tournament were the first matches of the season the team had played together.

Coach Petar Draksin, a native of Yugoslavia who got his start in New York City playing in the legendary Cosmopolitan League, has led Arizona for the last 16 years.
