Seattle Sounders FC News Release
It's back to business for the Seattle Sounders FC as MLS play resumes this weekend at home when the Eastern Conference leading Chicago Fire (7-3-7, 28 points) come into town on Saturday before a national television audience and sold-out Xbox Pitch at Qwest Field. Saturday's game with Chicago starts at 12 noon PT on ESPN.
It's on to the final for Seattle, which defeated the Houston Dynamo on Tuesday night at Starfire, 2-1, in the semifinal of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Sounders FC will face defending champion D.C. United at RFK Stadium on September 2 for the Dewar Challenge Trophy.
Seattle has won its last five games in cup and league play and is unbeaten (3-0-2) in its last MLS games since June 6. Chicago is riding a three-game league unbeaten run (2-0-1) and has advanced to the SuperLiga final on August 5 when it will face Mexico's Tigres UANL.
Saturday's game will conclude a three-game MLS home stand which began June 28. Following the MLS All-Star Game on July 29 in Sandy, Utah, the Sounders FC will play its next three games on the road, beginning August 2 at San Jose.
