Sounders FC Returns Home to Take on the Colorado Rapids

Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - After getting a win down in the Bay Area against the San Jose Earthquakes to remain in first place in the Western Conference on Wednesday, Seattle Sounders FC (15-5-6, 51 points) prepares to host the Colorado Rapids (13-4-9, 48 points) Sunday evening at Lumen Field (7:00 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, Prime Video, 1090 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). Media resources for tomorrow's match are available below, including soundbytes from Sounders FC Head Coach Brian Schmetzer and goalkeeper Stefan Frei.
Sounders FC and Colorado have met on one other occasion this season, a July 4 matchup at Dick's Sporting Goods Park that saw the two sides battle to a 1-1 draw. Alex Roldan scored the first goal of his MLS career during the contest.
Western Conference playoff seeding is very much in play, as Colorado currently sits in third place in the Western Conference standings with 48 points. A win for the away side on Sunday would put the Rapids level on points with Seattle. Colorado hosts the final regular-season meeting between the two clubs on October 20.
Seattle also has the chance to clinch a playoff berth this weekend, if things fall its way in other MLS contests. If Sounders FC wins, LA Galaxy loses to LAFC, Minnesota United FC loses / draws with FC Dallas and Vancouver Whitecaps FC loses / draws with the San Jose Earthquakes, the Rave Green would find themselves in the postseason for the 13th consecutive season. The club's current 12-year run is already a league record.
Following Sunday's match, Sounders FC has a week off before hosting Cascadia Rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC (6:00 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, Prime Video, 1090 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
