Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC today announced that the club is hosting a viewing party event in support of the U.S. Men's National Team at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in its opening Group Stage match against Wales on Monday, November 21 at 11:00 a.m. PT at The Armory at Seattle Center. This free event gives fans of all ages the opportunity to join Sounders FC cheer on the The Stars and Stripes as they battle in FIFA World Cup for the first time since 2014.
Watch parties are being hosted for all three of the United States' Group Stage matches, including USA vs. England (Friday, November 25 - 11:00 a.m. PT) and USA vs. Iran (Tuesday, November 29 - 11:00 a.m. PT). Admission is free and provided on a first-come, first-served basis with entry for each match beginning at 9:00 a.m. PT and continuing until the Armory reaches capacity.
Sounders FC midfielder and Federal Way native Kelyn Rowe will be in attendance at Monday's event. The 11-year MLS veteran has over 300 professional appearances, in addition to six career caps for the U.S. Men's National Team. Rowe is available for media interviews upon request.
Those coming to the parties can look forward to watching the games on a giant screen in an electric group atmosphere. Sounders FC is also providing pre-match musical entertainment, interactive games and a variety of ways to win exciting prizes, including an authentic framed USMNT jersey, limited-edition Sounders FC adidas Ultraboost x COPA shoes and more.
Additional special giveaways and prizes include:
The Puyallup Tribe's Emerald Queen Casino is giving away a one-night stay at its new EQC Tacoma Hotel, along with a $100 food credit to Slahal, the hotel's exclusive rooftop restaurant.
Adidas is giving away USMNT posters featuring adidas athletes, as well offering its adiClub giveaway for signed USMNT gear and adidas gift cards.
For each watch party, all Armory food and drink locations will be open, with an additional beer garden space offered for attendees 21 years of age and older. Additionally, the first 1,500 guests to enter each watch party can receive a Sounders-themed World Cup rally towel, while the first 300 Sounders FC Season Ticket Members in attendance at each watch party will receive an exclusive Sounders-themed World Cup long-sleeve t-shirt.
Fans can also take part in the recently announced MLS Qatar Quest Bracket Challenge, which gives the opportunity to fill out a bracket to win big prizes.
Sounders FC forward Jordan Morris and midfielder Cristian Roldan were both included on the final 26-player U.S. Men's National Team roster, announced earlier this month, marking the first FIFA World Cup call-up for either player. Following Clint Dempsey and DeAndre Yedlin being named to the squad in 2014, Sounders FC is the only club team to have multiple players selected to the USMNT in each of its last two World Cup appearances. With Xavier Arreaga (Ecuador) and Nouhou (Cameroon) also heading to Qatar, this marks the most active Sounders FC players that have ever been selected to a single FIFA World Cup, with Seattle's four ranking third among all MLS teams this year. FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM begins on November 20 and runs through December 18.
At the conclusion of matches on November 25 and November 29, fans are encouraged to explore Seattle Center Winterfest, presented by Symetra. Running November 25 - December 31, this world of sparkling lights, amusement and spirited entertainment comes to life for five weeks and includes performances, a Winter Train & Village, annual campus lighting display and a New Year's Eve Celebration.
