Sounders FC Goalkeeper Stefan Frei Launches Platform Dedicated to Artistic Endeavors

SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC goalkeeper Stefan Frei today announced the launch of Stefan24Frei.com, a digital platform dedicated to his artistic pursuits. The site is a new step forward in Frei's off-field passion for art, which has developed throughout his lifetime, and offers the public a chance to learn about Frei's artistic background, view his portfolio of works, keep up with news on an art-centered blog and even purchase both original canvas pieces and limited-edition prints.

"Art has always been a big part of my life and I hope sharing this new journey of mine will inspire others to go after their dreams as well," said Frei. "As I have learned through my career as a professional athlete, dream big, work hard! This is just the first step; I look forward to my evolution as an artist while continuing the relentless pursuit of expanding the Sounders' trophy cabinet."

Frei's style, a form of geometric abstraction, focuses on using lines, angles and layers of color to create uniquely detailed patterns. What began as simply a relaxing outlet from the exacting mental and physical work of goalkeeping has developed into a talent Frei looks to hone while still playing.

"I could not be more excited for Stefan to launch this new initiative for his artwork," said Sounders FC Owner Adrian Hanauer. "Like Stefan, I share a passion for the arts, and I appreciate how much time, dedication and energy go into the artistic process. Similar to his outstanding work in goal for our club, Stefan has a real dedication to his craft, and I look forward to seeing his development as an artist."

Frei's artistic side is a well-known aspect of the goalkeeper's personality and has been featured in pieces in The Athletic and The Seattle Times, as well as taking part in a Seattle Art Museum video series. This September, Sounders fans can pick up a copy of Sounders Monthly at any home game for a more in-depth look at Frei's creative style and newest pieces.
