Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC today announced activities surrounding the club's annual Fan Appreciation Day match, presented by Zulily, taking place this Monday against the LA Galaxy (7:00 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, Prime Video, 1090 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). Following the empty stadiums of 2020, the Rave Green are thrilled to come together with fans once more for the annual traditions established as part of the club's regular-season home finale each year. Fans are encouraged to arrive and be in seats early so as not to miss any of the special presentations.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. PT, and before kickoff fans can visit the RAVE Foundation Fan Appreciation Auction located in Soccer Celebration in the northwest corner of the West Field Plaza to view a unique selection of player-autographed items and more. Items can also be viewed and bids placed via Sounders.GiveSmart.com - allowing everyone to participate whether or not they are able to attend the match. Bidding opens through the link above at 10:00 a.m. PT on matchday and closes at the end of halftime, with all proceeds supporting RAVE Foundation initiatives to build small fields for free play in marginalized communities throughout the Puget Sound region.
During the pre-match period, the Rave Green are also honoring its 2021 Community Heroes presented by Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. The Sounders FC Community Heroes Award collaborates with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health to recognize individuals from the Sounders FC family who make a positive impact in their community. This Monday evening, Community Heroes to be honored include: Stefan Frei, Sounders FC First Team; Danny Robles, Tacoma Defiance; Trevor Wilson, Sounders FC Academy; and Natalie Guerrero, Sounders FC fan.
In recognition of Fan Appreciation Day, the club's "Scarves Up!" pre-match moment is being led by Cameron Collins. Collins' passion for the Rave Green is reflected in the many ways he has supported and represented the club, including as current Alliance Council President.
On the pitch, the team is wearing its Jimi Hendrix Kit on Monday, in recognition of the first day of Native American Heritage Month, which runs through the month of November. The right sleeve of the kit features the salmon logo of the Puyallup Tribe, an original steward of land throughout what is now known as the Puget Sound. The tribe and its Emerald Queen Casino signed a multi-year partnership with the Rave Green earlier this year. The team is announcing further Native American Heritage Month activities next week.
At halftime, a check presentation is taking place, with local business leader and RAVE donor Thach Nguyen presenting $300,000 to RAVE Foundation. Nguyen pledged this generous gift to RAVE earlier this summer at the club's Defend the Right to Play match. While continuing to fundraise to reach his goal of $400,000, he is formally presenting a check representing his funds raised to date. All funds raised by Nguyen are being earmarked for two new community turf fields, scheduled to open in 2022 in Seattle Housing Authority's NewHolly neighborhood, where Nguyen spent his childhood.
Throughout the match, a number of exciting giveaways for fans are also scheduled to take place, including:

Additionally, a variety of Sounders FC items, including autographed jerseys, scarves, rally flags and soccer balls will be given away to fans throughout the stadium over the course of the match. Select lucky fans will also win match-worn jerseys from the day's game, courtesy of Emerald Queen Casino.
At the conclusion of the game, Sounders FC players and coaches will thank fans for their support with the traditional sharing of carnations and soccer balls.
Before leaving Lumen Field, Season Ticket Members can once again partake in the Alliance Member Garage Sale. This year's sale is taking place in the south end of the West Field Plaza. The popular event gives Season Ticket Members the opportunity to buy exclusive Sounders FC gear, ranging from jerseys to training gear to promotional items, with some pieces not available in stores or to the general public. Items are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to five per member. All proceeds from the Alliance Member Garage benefit RAVE Foundation.
While Sounders FC has clinched a spot in the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs, the battle for final playoff seeding in the Western Conference continues in a tight race. Following Monday's home finale, the Rave Green travel to take on Vancouver Whitecaps FC to close out the regular season on Sunday, November 7 (3:00 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, Prime Video, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1090 AM).
