COMMERCE CITY, COLORADO - Seattle Sounders FC (10-5-5, 35 points), dropped a 3-1 result to the Colorado Rapids (6-6-4, 22 points) on Sunday night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The loss halts a three-match unbeaten run for the Rave Green, and moves the club down to third in the Western Conference standings, one point behind second-place Sporting Kanas City and three points behind first-place Portland. Seattle has another opportunity to climb the table in just three days' time, as Sounders FC travels to face the LA Galaxy on Wednesday, November 4 (8:00 p.m. PT / JOEtv, Prime Video, UniMás, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).

Colorado opened the scoring first in the 11th minute on their first quality attack of the game, when a cross from Sam Vines found the head of Andre Shinyashiki, who was able to head it into the right side of the net.

Seattle answered back in the 22nd minute when Cristian Roldan crossed in a ball that found the feet of Jordan Morris, who tapped it into the corner of the net to equalize. The score remained knotted until the 42nd minute when Keegan Rosenberry scored off a deflected corner that met his foot outside the 18-yard-box. Colorado added to its final tally in the 75th minute via set piece, when Jack Price hit a looping ball into the box that found the head of Cole Bassett.

MATCH NOTES

Tonight's loss moves Seattle's all-time regular season record vs. the Rapids to 18-7-2, including a 7-5-1 mark on the road.

With his start in goal tonight, Stefan Frei recorded his 300th regular season start in MLS. This number is inclusive of both his five seasons with Toronto FC and the past seven campaigns with Sounders FC. Back on October 18 vs. San Jose, Frei made his 250th appearance in all competitions for the Rave Green, second only to former captain Osvaldo Alonso in this category.

Including both regular season play and the MLS Cup Playoffs, midfielder Gustav Svensson made his 100th all-time appearance for Sounders FC tonight. The Swede originally joined Seattle in January of 2017 from the Chinese Super League, and he has gone on to become a midfield anchor for the Rave Green.

Following his goal in the 22nd minute of play, Jordan Morris now has nine goals on the season, just one behind team leader Raúl Ruidíaz. Morris is also just one strike away from equaling his single-season high scoring mark (10 goals in 2019). He also has seven assists on the season.

With tonight's result, Seattle drops to third in the MLS Western Conference, one point behind second-place Sporting Kanas City and three points behind first-place Portland. All three clubs have already qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs.
