Sounders FC Faces Austin FC Saturday in Home Opener

RENTON, WASH. - Following a 2-1 road loss to LAFC last weekend, Seattle Sounders FC hosts Austin FC in its first home match of the 2024 season on Saturday, March 2 on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field (7:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 93.3 KJR FM, El Rey 1360 AM).

Seattle and Austin have faced off six times since the Texas side joined the league in 2021, with Seattle holding a 3-1-2 advantage. The two sides have yet to meet in the postseason. The Rave Green historically have been successful in home-opening matches, compiling a 10-5-0 record in their first match of the season at Lumen Field. Seattle has also never lost a home opener by more than one goal.

Club legend Osvaldo Alonso is being honored at Saturday's match. The former midfielder and club captain recently signed a one-day contract to retire a Sounder. Alonso joined the club for its inaugural season in 2009, playing 10 seasons for Seattle and winning eight major trophies with the Rave Green.

Following Saturday's matchup, Seattle hits the road once again to take on Eastern Conference side Philadelphia Union on Saturday, March 9 at Subaru Park (4:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
