Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC today announced that ticket sales for the club's 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Final home leg against Pumas UNAM have officially broken the record for the highest-attended match in Concacaf Champions League history, with over 67,000 fans currently expected. The match, being played this Wednesday, May 4 in a 7:00 p.m. PT kickoff, presents a historic opportunity for the Rave Green to become the first-ever MLS team to win the tournament.
With a select amount of tickets being released this afternoon to the general public via Concacaf, less than 1,000 tickets remain available, and fans are urged to act immediately if they wish to attend the historic game. Limited suite and partial suite inventory is available for Wednesday's decisive match. Available options can be found via SoundersFC.com/Tickets/CCL-Final.
Additionally, as part of Sounders FC's commitment to affordably priced tickets, 200 seats are being released at a price of $19.74 to area students. These tickets are being released on matchday at the Lumen Field box office, beginning at 4:30 p.m. PT. They are available to students with a valid student ID on a first-come, first-served basis. One ticket is available for each individual student ID.
Wednesday's contest is now set to become the largest standalone crowd in SCCL history, with Sounders FC on track to break the previously held record of 66,208 that was established in the 2014-2015 Semifinal second leg between Club América and Herediano at Estadio Azteca. The game is also the most-attended match of the 2022 Champions League tournament, breaking the mark of 56,094 set during the second leg of the Semifinals between Cruz Azul and Pumas, also at Estadio Azteca.
The last time a Sounders FC home match surpassed an attendance of 60,000 was the 2019 MLS Cup Final, when 69,274 fans were on-hand to see the Rave Green defeat Toronto FC 3-1 in the highest-attended soccer match in the history of Washington State. The club has surpassed the 60,000 mark on eight total occasions at Lumen Field, with Sounders FC playing to an unbeaten 7-0-1 record.
Fans attending the match are encouraged to arrive early to this historic contest, with gates opening at 5:00 p.m. PT, 30 minutes earlier than usual for home games. Those looking to take in all of the pre-match ceremonies should arrive no later than 6:00 p.m. PT, with travel times expected to be heavily increased due to the mid-week nature of the match, as well as one of the largest crowds in Seattle soccer history.
In addition to adding another trophy to the team's collection, the winner of the tournament goes on to represent the region as the top club side from North America, Central America and the Caribbean at the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup.
