SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC 2 today announced that it has released midfielder Ray Saari. He appeared in 39 games in two seasons for S2 and recorded four goals and six assists. Saari started in 11 of 12 appearances this season, scoring two goals and adding two assists. He also appeared in each of Sounders FC's three Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches over the past two seasons. Saari last appeared for S2 on July 8 and has been sidelined since with a hamstring strain.

"We'd like to thank Ray for his time with our organization," said Sounders FC Director of Player Development Marc Nicholls. "He was always a true professional while he was here, and we wish him nothing but the best in the future."

Saari signed with Seattle on March 22, 2017 after a four-year career at the University of Tulsa. He started in 53 of 69 games for the Golden Hurricane and recorded 12 goals and 12 assists. The Kansas City native was twice named to the American Athletic Conference Second Team All-Conference squad.

S2 returns to action this Saturday, September 15 at Cheney Stadium against Phoenix Rising FC (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+). Seattle will look to extend its five-game home unbeaten streak.
