Bridgeport Islanders News Release
Movember Foundation BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers, proud AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, are humbled to partner with the Movember Foundation to fight some of the largest health issues faced by men, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide.
During the month of November, Sound Tigers players will be growing mustaches to support men's health and gain awareness to key illnesses. Their progress will be recorded once a week and headshots will be posted on the Sound Tigers Official Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, as well as 95252 SoundTigers.com. In addition, fans are encouraged to participate at Sound Tigers home games this month by "voting" for the best mustache by placing donations in individual player's buckets at the sales table located next to the Limerick Pub behind section 118.
"Each and every one of us knows someone who has been affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer, or another men's health illness," Sound Tigers defenseman Kyle Burroughs said. "This is a simple way to help gain some awareness and have a little fun in the process. Some of our guys here can grow some pretty mean mustaches."
All contributions will be given to the Movember Foundation and fans can also make a donation online via the Sound Tigers Movember.
The Movember Foundation is uniquely placed to address the issues facing men's health at a global level. They fund ground-breaking programs all over the world, engaging with men where they are, to understand what works best, to help make change happen sooner. Since 2003, the Movember Foundation has been committed to helping men live happier, healthier, longer lives. The Foundation is a proud partner of the Livestrong Foundation, Prostate Cancer Foundation and Prevention Institute.
