
Sound Tigers Grab 5-2 Win Over Pirates

Bridgeport, Connecticut - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers picked up a 5-2 win over the Portland Pirates at the Arena at Harbor Yard Sunday afternoon. Colin Murphy and Felix Schutz scored for the Pirates.
Bridgeport struck first just 2:18 into the game as Pascal Morency scored his first goal of the season from Mitch Fritz and Tomas Marcinko. The Sound Tigers scored again at 5:47 of the first when Mike Iggulden notched his 21st goal of the eyar from Jeremy Colliton and Jesse Joensuu. The Pirates answered back around ten minutes later when Colin Murphy grabbed his fifth goal of the season. Mark Mancari moved the puck ahead 2-on-2, and stickhandled around one of the Sound Tigers defenders to create a 2-on-1. Mancari then slid the puck to Murphy, who deked in front of the net and got Bridgeport goaltender Nathan Lawson down before putting the puck into the vacated net. Schutz picked up an assist along with Mancari. Bridgeport widened the lead again though at the 17:45 mark when Ben Walter got his 13th goal of the season from Trevor Smith and Kurtis McLean. The Sound Tigers took a 3-1 lead into the second.
In the second period, Bridgeport scored less than a minute in as Ben Walter stole a puck from Nathan Gerbe and stickhandled to the high slot for a wrister that beat Jhonas Enroth. Walter's 14th goal of the season was unassisted. Tyler Haskins scored later in the second period. Haskins' 5th goal of the year from Mike Iggulden and Jesse Joensuu came at the 12:54 mark of the middle frame. The Pirates then pulled goaltender Jhonas Enroth, and Rob Lemelin played the final 5:11 of the period. During that span, Felix Schutz deflected a Colin Murphy shot home for his 10th goal of the year. Murphy and Bonneau got the assists at 18:59 of the second period. Bridgeport took a 5-2 lead into the third period, and the final 20 minutes stayed quiet with no scoring taking place.
Portland goaltender Jhonas Enroth made 20 saves on 25 shots and took the loss, dropping to 18-17-5. Rob Lemelin played 5:11 for the Pirates and stopped the only shot he saw. Bridgeport goaltender Nathan Lawson stopped 21 of 23 shots to pick up the win..
