Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI- The Milwaukee Admirals showed hard work and perseverance as they maintained a 2-1 lead throughout the whole third period to beat the visiting Manitoba Moose in front of a crowd of 10,026 at the Bradley Center.
"I certainly think we're going in the right direction again. It's been a tough little stretch here for us, we haven't taken a day off in 10 days, so I think there's some mental fatigue," said Admirals Head Coach Lane Lambert.
Admiral's rookie James Sixsmith picked up his third goal of the season at the 13 minute mark of the second period to give the Ads a 2-1 after tipping a shot from Cody Franson on the blueline. Franson, who received a perfect one-timer pass from defenseman Robert Dietrich, knew that the potential for a tip was there.
The first goal was in the Admirals favor at 8:26 of the first period, and it got the crowd roaring. On an early powerplay, Tim Ramholt slid the puck over to Robert Dietrich on the blueline who blasted it into a crowd and found it's way to netminder Cory Schneider after a deflection by Ryan Maki. Schneider made the initial save, but the rebound bounced out to Andreas Thuresson who shoved the puck in the net for his ninth of the season.
The Moose tied it up less than three minutes later at 11:05. It came in the same fashion as the Admirals first goal, as Jason Jaffray slipped a rebound past Drew MacIntyre off of a Jason Krog slap shot from the point. Guillaume Desbiens notched an assist on the play as well.
"You have to give them a lot of credit. They came to play and they played hard. I thought we were physical, I thought we forchecked well, and our defense played a great job of pinching," added Lambert.
The same two teams will square off again on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center. Fans can purchase tickets and on-ice passes by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Groups of ten or more people receive a minimum of $2 off of each ticket.
