Manitoba Moose News Release

In their third game in as many nights, the Manitoba Moose were defeated by the Chicago Wolves 2-1 at the Allstate Arena on Sunday. This loss marks the third straight for the Moose, who currently hold a 20-7-0-3 record on the road. Defenseman Dylan Yeo scored for Manitoba while Curtis Sanford stopped 27 of 29 shots for his first regulation loss this season.

A boarding penalty handed to defenseman Daniel Rahimi, put the Wolves on their first power play 1:16 into the game. Racking up two shots on the man-advantage, the home team wasn't able to break Curtis Sanford in the short two-minutes.

Near the midway point of the period, Manitoba received back-to-back power play opportunities when the Wolves were penalized for hooking and high-sticking. The visiting Moose weren't able to capitalize on either man-advantage but they did put more pressure on Ondrej Pavelec, bringing their shot count to 12.

Embarking on their third power play, the Moose opened the scoring a mere 56 seconds into the second period. With help from former Wolves, Jason Krog and Guillaume Desbiens, Dylan Yeo netted his first Moose goal this season, 1-0.

With Josh Soares in the sin bin for hooking, the Wolves responded when Spencer Machacek wired the puck past Sanford to knot the game at one.

At 10:12 a defensive slip up in the Moose zone gave Joe Motzko a free alley to fire a shot. The puck hit the cross bar and then fell into the net to put the Wolves on top, 2-1.

Back and fourth play consumed the first half of the third period, with the Moose leading in shots 33-28. By the final minute of the game the Moose were leading in shots 43-29, but they couldn't break Pavelec, who made acrobatic save after acrobatic save to win the game for the Wolves, 2-1.
