Sound Finish Off Nighthawks, Win 119-109

Rockville, MD - Strong Island scored 10 straight points during a 4:28 stretch late in the fourth quarter, and the Sound rallied from a 10-point deficit to beat the Maryland Nighthawks 119-109 on Friday night.

With the Nighthawks leading 103-101 on a 3D basket by Dennis Edwards with 6:28 remaining in the game, Raphael Edwards (24 points) started the decisive run with a three-pointer from the top of the key. Brian Woodward followed with four straight free throws and a Gregory Plummer made basket as the Sound took the lead for good.

Gregory Plummer led the Sound with 30 points, while Raphael Edwards had 24 points and seven rebounds as the Sound picked up their third win in five meeting with the Nighthawks.

Denis Edwards scored a game high 32 points to lead Maryland. Andrew Washington had 23 points and a game high 12 rebounds, Mark Karcher 15 and Anton Jenifer 11 as the Nighthawks dropped their second straight game against the Strong Island Sound.

The Nighthawks will travel down to Wilmington and play the first place Sea Dawgs in back- to-back games beginning Sunday evening.
