It was deja vu all over again Monday night, as Livan Soto drove in the winning run, and the Bees walked off Beloit for the second straight night. This time it was 1-0. The win was the 11th walk off of the season for Burlington.
Starters Clayton Chatham and Snapper's Angello Infante locked up in a pitching duel. Both went 5 full innings. Both gave up no runs and just two hits. Chatham walked 1 and struck out 8. Infante walked 4 and fanned three. Neither pitcher figured in the decision.
The teams took it to the tenth inning scoreless. Beloit placed Skyler Weber at second base by rule to start the extra. After two were out, a wild pitch from eventual winner Greg Veliz sent him to third. Michael Woodworth walked. During the ensuing at bat Veliz uncorked what would have been a wild pitch, but Bees catcher Harrison Wenson faked the throw to second and caught Weber off third when he broke for home on the fake.
With Ryan Vega at 2nd in the home tenth, Rayneldy Rosario singled on a slow roller to second. Vega went to third. Alvaro Rubalcaba was intentionally walked, loading the bases, setting up the force out anywhere and a lefty-lefty matchup. Soto came through as he had yesterday, driving a deep fly ball to center that scored Vega. And the celebration was on.
