Florida Firecats News Release

Estero, FL- After an incredible outing against the Columbus Wardogs last Saturday, Firecats' defensive specialist Quincy Sorrell now leads the arenafootball2 in tackles.

Sorrell came into the contest tied for fifth in the af2 with 45.5 tackles. Sorrell moved into first on that list after he had eleven solo stops last Saturday to boost his season total to 56.5. Sorrell has already surpassed his season total from last year (54.0).

"The biggest reason we are playing so well is because everyone is playing intelligently," Sorrell said in reference to the great play of the Firecats' defense. "We are a family out there, and everybody is clicking.

"Everyone is taking care of their part. Everybody is getting after the ball, baby!" an energetic Sorrell concluded.

Sorrell also had two interceptions last Saturday to push his cause in an attempt to win the arenafootball2 ADT Defensive Player of the Week. Sorrell returned his second interception 23 yards for a touchdown after a blistering block by teammate Roy Stabler.

The Firecats are currently off to their best start in franchise history (7-3). They are also in the midst of their second longest winning streak in franchise history (four games). They will go for their fifth straight win this weekend when they travel to Fayetteville, North Carolina to take on the Cape Fear Wildcats. A win would tie their longest win streak in team history.

The Firecats return home in two weeks to host defending American Conference champions, the Macon Knights. Great seats are still available! Call the Firecats' office at (239) 390-2287 to get your tickets today!
