FRIDAY, JUNE 11
Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings 78, LAREDO LAW 63 (Attendance: 3,355)
LAREDO, TEXAS. - Bo Smith caught seven passes for 141 yards and four touchdowns to help lead the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings (4-7) to a 78-63 win over the Laredo Law (2-8) at the Laredo Entertainment Center Friday night. Reggie Perkins and Willie Sheppard both had an interception for the Battle Wings, Sheppard also forced and recovered a fumble. Laredo quarterback Rocky Perez threw for 318 yards and six touchdowns along with two interceptions. Perez also rushed for 27 yards and three touchdowns. P.J. Winston had six catches for 136 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Law. Traco Rachal of the Law recorded an interception.
SATURDAY, JUNE 12
CAPE FEAR WILDCATS 47, Manchester Wolves 38 (Attendance: 4,245)
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - A defensive stand by the Cape Fear Wildcats (6-3) in the fourth quarter followed by a Chris McKinney touchdown reception gave the Wildcats a 47-38 victory over the Manchester Wolves (4-6) at the Crown Coliseum Saturday night. The Wolves' Chris Sanders completed 17 of 29 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Henry Frazier caught six passes for 103 yards while rushing for five yards also. For the Wildcats, Matt Burstein recorded nine receptions for 98 yards and three touchdowns. Torey Morris had two touchdown catches.
FLORIDA FIRECATS 54, Columbus Wardogs 34 (Attendance: 5,779)
ESTERO, Fla. - Quincy Sorrell recorded eleven solo tackles and two interceptions to help the Florida Firecats (7-3) defeat the Columbus Wardogs (4-6) 54-34 Saturday night at Germain Arena. After 67 points were scored in the first half, only 21 points were put on the board in the second. Columbus' Adrian Cockfield, af2's leading receiver, was held in check catching only five passes for 54 yards and one touchdown. Troy Bergeron made up for Cockfield, catching twelve passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Magic Benton of Florida caught one touchdown pass and recorded one interception on defense.
Tennessee Valley Vipers 54, MACON KNIGHTS 38 (Attendance: 2,808)
MACON, Ga. - Josh Kellett completed 21 of 40 passes for 173 yards and five touchdowns with zero interceptions as the Tennessee Valley Vipers (7-3) defeated the Macon Knights (2-8) 54-38 at the Macon Coliseum Saturday night. Jerrian James caught eight passes for 80 yards and caught four of Kellett's five touchdown passes. James also rushed four times for 43 yards and a touchdown. For the Knights, Jamaal Garman reeled in five passes for 43 yards and two touchdowns. Garman also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
MEMPHIS XPLORERS 59, Bakersfield Blitz 31 (Attendance: 3,069)
SOUTHHAVEN, Miss. - The Memphis Xplorers (5-5) defeated the Bakersfield Blitz (6-4) as Kevin Prentiss had nine catches for 112 yards and four touchdowns at the DeSoto Civic Center. Prentiss also totaled 107 yards on four kick returns. After leading Memphis to a touchdown on his first drive, Brian Jones was forced to leave the game due to injury. Newly acquired Michael Wall came in to throw for 159 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Xplorers. For the Blitz, Eric Mahanke had seven catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns.
PEORIA PIRATES 35, Louisville Fire 31 (Attendance: 4,080)
PEORIA, Ill. - Another number one ranked team fell as the Louisville Fire (7-3) were downed by the Peoria Pirates (4-6) 35-31 at the Peoria Civic Center Saturday night. The turning point of the game came in the second half when the Pirates were down by nine. Peoria then scored three of the final four touchdowns in the game, including a 32-yard touchdown pass from Talmadge Hill to Jerald Burley with under six minutes left to give the Pirates the lead. The Fire then moved the ball down to the Peoria three-yard line, but on fourth and one Louisville couldn't pick up a single yard, giving the ball and the game to the Pirates.
WICHITA STEALTH 70, Oklahoma City 35 (Attendance: 3,510)
VALLEY CENTER, Kan. - Behind Henry Bryant's four sacks the Wichita Stealth (7-3) defeated the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (7-3) 70-35 Saturday night at the Kansas Coliseum. The victory moved the Stealth into a first place tie in the Southwest Division with the Yard Dawgz and Tulsa Talons. While Bryant led the Stealth defense, Jonathan Beasley led the offense, completing 19 of 25 passes for 269 yards and seven touchdowns with one interception. Al Hunt had a good game for Oklahoma City, catching four passes, three of them for touchdowns, and intercepted a pass on defense.
Albany Conquest 66, ARKANSAS TWISTERS 54 (Attendance: 6,775)
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Albany Conquest (4-6) went on the road and defeated the Arkansas Twisters (1-8) 66-54 Saturday night at Alltel Arena. D. Bryant had a solid game for the Conquest, completing 11 of 24 passes for 254 yards and six touchdowns with and six touchdowns with zero interceptions. Tony Locke caught six passes for 174 yards and four touchdowns. Rashon Burns rushed five times for 49 yards. For the Twisters, Kevin Williams and Ted Alford both caught two touchdown passes.
Tulsa Talons 45, RIO GRANDE VALLEY DORADOS 35 (Attendance: 5,500)
HILDALGO, TEXAS - The Rio Grande Valley Dorados (3-6) couldn't overcome being outscored 26-0 in the first half and lost 45-35 to the Tulsa Talons (7-3) Saturday night at Dodge Arena. Robert Reed caught twelve passes for 126 yards and four touchdowns for the Talons. Bjorn Barre caught one touchdown pass on offense and recorded an interception on defense. For the Dorados Craig Cole recorded six receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown and Manwell Talbert caught four passes for 60 yards and two touchdowns.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers 46, QUAD CITY STEAMWHEELERS 39 (Attendance: 6,531)
MOLINE, Ill. - The Wilkes-Barre Scranton (7-2) defeated the Quad City Steamwheelers (6-3) for the second time this season 46-39 at The Mark Saturday night. The Pioneers' DS Jamie Hattley recorded two interceptions, four pass deflections and 2.5 tackles. On offense for the Pioneers, J.R. Thomas caught ten passes for 100 yards. Tim Dodge caught eight passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Steamwheelers. Dodge also had three tackles and a pass deflection on defense. Quad City quarterback Ronnie Gordon struggled, throwing three interceptions.
BIRMINGHAM STEELDOGS 56, Green Bay Blizzard 54 (Attendance: 6,214)
Birmingham, Alb. - The Green Bay Blizzard (4-6) lost on the road to the Birmingham Steeldogs (8-2) 56-54 at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Complex. In the loss, Chris Greisen completed 24 of 44 passes for 375 yards and seven touchdowns with zero interceptions. Robert Garth caught three touchdown passes while DeRonn Finley caught four. For Birmingham Carlos McNeary had a solid game. McNeary caught five passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns. McNeary also returned a kickoff back 50 yards for a touchdown.
HAWAIIAN ISLANDERS 70, Central Valley Coyotes 42 (Attendance: 2,848)
HONOLULU, HAWAII - The Hawaiian Islanders (6-4) defeated the Central Valley Coyotes (1-9) 70-42 at the Neal Blaisdell Arena in a West Division battle. Anthony Arceneaux recorded five receptions for 91 yards and four touchdowns along with five kick returns for 162 yards and a touchdown. Josh Robinson, Desmond Maul and Robert Kemfort all had interceptions for the Islanders. Kenyatte Morgan caught six passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns along with eight kick returns for 152 yards for the Coyotes.
