Wenatchee Wild News Release
Sault Ste. Marie, MI. - A goal late in the third tied it, and then another one late in the extra session ended it, as the Soo Eagles grabbed a 3-2 overtime win over the Wenatchee Wild at Pullar Stadium.
The Wild took the lead as River Rymsha (Huntington Woods, Michigan) scored from newcomer Andre Pison (Herlev, Denmark) at 5:11, giving the Wild a 1-0 lead. The Soo would tie it up on a goal by Jeremy Norway, assisted by AJ Jarosz and Kristofers Bindulis at 14:06, making it 1-1 after one.
In the second period, Wenatchee regained the lead on a goal by Parker Tuomie (Biemerhaven, Germany), assisted by Troy Loggins (Huntington Beach, California) at 3:32, giving the Wild a 2-1 lead.
The lead would hold until the final minute of regulation when, on the power play and with the goalie pulled, the Eagles would get the equalizer from Jacob McDowell, with Chase Matson and Bindulis getting the assists at 19:34, tying the game 2-2.
In the overtime, both teams had opportunities, but it looked like the game would end up in a shootout. However, the Soo had other ideas, getting a goal from McDowell, assisted by Mike Sabatini and Chase Matson at 4:10, giving the Eagles the 3-2 win. "That one's tough to take" said Wenatchee Wild Head Coach Bliss Littler. "You want to call the cops, you went into someone else's building and you deserve both points, but still lost."
The Wild outshot the Eagles 28-27. Mackenzie Sawyer (Landsdowne, Canada) made 24 saves; Paige Skoog made 26 saves for the Soo. Wenatchee was 1-for-7 on the power play and 5-of-6 on the penalty kill.
Wenatchee is now 5-6-1, the Eagles are 5-5-3.
The Wild's next home action is against the Kenai River Brown Bears. The games on Friday and Saturday, October 25th and 26th, start at 7:05pm PDT, with the game on Sunday, October 26th, starting at 5:05pm PDT.
