Somerset Sweeps Surf

Eric Martins hit what proved to be the winning homerun in the top of the eighth of Surf starter Mark Rutherford.

Somerset starter Jason Dickson put together a very solid outing giving up one run on three hits while striking out four in seven innings pitched.

Jeff Nettles broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth with a solo homerun over the left field wall to give Somerset the early lead.

The Surf tied the game after Ric Johnson hit his league leading 28th double and scored on an RBI single by Juan Thomas.

Surf startet Mark Rutherford took the loss for Atlantic City giving up two solo homeruns and seven hits through seven and two-thirds innings of work.

Brandon Jackson''s single in the fifth ended the Surf''s 28 consecutive at-bats without a hit, going back to the fifth inning of last night''s game.

Matthew Schwager tossed a scoreless ninth to pick up his fifth save of the season.
