Somerset Patriots Pitcher Brett Jodie Signs with Boston Red Sox

Bridgewater, NJ- The 2003 Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced that pitcher Brett Jodie has been signed by the Boston Red Sox.

Jodie finished the 2003 season with a 12-5 record, a 3.78 ERA, and 88 strikeouts in 135.2 innings pitched in 24 games started. His 12 wins tied for second best in the Atlantic League for the season.

He pitched in Game One of the 2003 South Division Championship Series and shut out the Camden Riversharks, allowing two hits and striking out six in seven innings pitched.

Jodie has Major League experience with the New York Yankees and the San Diego Padres. He has a minor league career 56-28 record with a 3.09 ERA and 504 strikeouts in 126 games. He has three years of Triple-A experience in the International and Pacific Coast Leagues.

"Brett was a big part of the Championship last season. He was one of the most dominant pitchers in the league during the second half of the season and was just about untouchable in the playoffs. We wish him the best of luck in the Red Sox organization and hope to see him return to the Majors," said Patrick McVerry, President/ General Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.

Jodie will report to Spring Training next month with the Boston Red Sox organization.
