
Somerset Drops Third-Straight with 8-3 Loss

Sugar Land, Texas - The Somerset Patriots (18-13) jumped in front early Tuesday night, but ultimately fell short in an 8-3 loss to the Sugar Land Skeeters (21-12) at Constellation Field.
The Patriots opened up the scoring with a couple of runs in the top of the first inning. Ramon Flores got Somerset on the board with a two-out RBI single before Craig Massey drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk to give the Patriots an early 2-0 lead.
Sugar Land tied the ballgame with on a two-out rally in the bottom of the fourth, highlighted by a Juan Silverio two-run single. The Skeeters added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth on a Silverio two-run double and a Denis Phipps (6) two-run home run.
Two more runs came across for Sugar Land in the eighth inning on a Silverio RBI single and a Ryan Jackson RBI single. Silverio finished his night 3-for-5 with two runs scored and five RBI.
Mike Fransoso (1) got a run back in the top of the ninth on a solo home run to right field, but the Patriots would not get any closer.
Mark Lowe (2-1) took the win with one and one-third scoreless innings of relief. Duane Below (1-1) yielded four runs to take the loss. Neither starting pitcher factored into the decision.
Somerset and Sugar Land continue their seven-game series Wednesday night. Right-hander David Kubiak (3-0, 1.20 ERA) takes the mound for the Patriots against Skeeters' righty Dallas Beeler (2-1, 4.91 ERA). First pitch at Constellation Field is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET (7:05 p.m. CT).
The 2019 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Tuesday, June 4th when the team returns to TD Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 pm game against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.
