
Solar Bears Complete Trade with Rush

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, have announced that they have acquired the rights to forward Spencer Pommells from the Rapid City Rush to complete the future considerations Orlando received after trading forward Lindsay Sparks to Rapid City on Jan. 29.
Pommells, 26, recorded 35 points (19g-16a) and added 29 penalty minutes in 67 games with the Rush during the 2015-16 season. In 77 career professional games with the Rush and Florida Everblades, the 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward has accumulated 38 points (21g-17a) and 31 penalty minutes.
Prior to turning pro, the Grande Prairie, Alberta, native played collegiate hockey for the University of Windsor, where he scored 140 points (43g-97a) and 118 penalty minutes in 108 career games, and was the recipient of the Senator Joseph A. Sullivan Trophy as the CIS player of the year.
The Solar Bears drop the puck on their fifth season of ECHL hockey on Saturday, Oct. 22 against the Florida Everblades at the Amway Center.
