
Solar Bears Announce Protected List

Orlando Solar Bears News Release
Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, announced their Protected List following the 2014-15 season. The Solar Bears have placed 21 players on their Protected List.
Teams are allowed to protect as many players as they wish provided the players protected meet the guidelines as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association which state that teams shall retain the rights to each player that:
Signed a Standard Player Contract (SPC) in 2014-15 with the Member, and has not been traded or released, OR
Signed an SPC in 2014-15, and was recalled to the NHL/AHL or IIHF team, and has not been traded or released, OR
Had received a Qualifying Offer last summer for the current Season, DID NOT sign an SPC, and has not been traded or released, OR
Has been suspended by the Member or League, and has not been traded or released, OR
Signed an SPC on or after the first day of the 2014-15 Regular Season, then subsequently signed an NHL/AHL contract, and has not been traded or released, OR
Has executed the ECHL Retirement Form, and has not been traded or released

Players who were assigned to Orlando from the American Hockey League or the National Hockey League and never signed an SPC with the Solar Bears CANNOT be placed on the Protected List. Those players include: Tyler Biggs (Toronto), Alexandre Carrier (Albany), Maxime Clermont (New Jersey), Stefan Della Rovere (Toronto), Matt Finn (Toronto), Ben Johnson (New Jersey), Eric Knodel (Toronto), Mickey Lang (Toronto), Denver Manderson (Toronto), Brad Ross (Toronto), Ryan Rupert (Toronto), Peter Sivak (Toronto), Garret Sparks (Toronto), Brady Vail (Toronto), and Patrick Watling (Toronto).
The Orlando Solar Bears, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, play all of their home games at the 2012 Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal Sports Facility of the Year, the Amway Center.
