
Solano Falls Triple Shy of the Cycle

Moosic, Pa. - The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) dropped a 7-1 decision to the Rochester Red Wings on Friday night at PNC Field. The RailRiders (83-50) maintain a 5.0 game lead in the International League North Division despite the loss. SWB can clinch a postseason berth with one win in their next three games with the Red Wings (75-59).
Richard Bleier (2-3) shouldered the loss after allowing six runs on 10 hits over four innings. Adalberto Mejia (2-2) held the RailRIders to a run on seven hits across seven innings with five strikeouts.
Donovan Solano walloped his seventh home run of the season for the RailRiders' only tally. He finished a triple shy of the cycle. Cesar Puello finished with three hits and Eddy Rodriguez doubled twice.
Relievers Johnny Barbato, Tyler Webb and Jonathan Holder combined with Bleier to strike out 14 batters, two off the team's season high for a single game.
Rochester scored the game's first run with four straight hits in the second. Wilfredo Tovar scored Adam Brett Walker from third on a soft, infield hit up the third base line. Byron Buxton mashed a three-run homer to left, highlighting a five-run frame for the Red Wings. Leonardo Reginatto capped the scoring by scoring Tovar with a double to right in the eighth.
The RailRiders seek a two-game split with the Rochester Red Wings on Saturday, August 27 at PNC Field. Left-hander Phil Coke (4-3, 3.20) faces southpaw Nick Greenwood (5-3, 3.17) with a start time of 7:05 p.m. Jimmy Cefalo will visit PNC Field as part of the Legends Series and the first 2,000 fans in attendance receiver a pink t-shirt in support of breast cancer awareness, presented by The Marketplace at Steamtown and Bees Backyard.
