Sol Brings Size and Strength to Reign

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, announced the addition Winnipeg Jets prospect defenseman Cody Sol who was assigned by the AHL's St. John's IceCaps.

Sol, 22, spent 2012-13 in the Jets system with their then ECHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles, and their AHL affiliate, the St. John's IceCaps where he finished the season. The 2009 Atlanta Thrashers round five draft pick earned eight points (5g, 3a) with the Eagles in 25 games and four points (1g, 3a) with the IceCaps in 26 games.

The Woodstock, Ontario native stands tall at 6-foot-4 and weighs in at 245-pounds. Sol has used his size to his advantage as he has consistently topped his teams in penalty minutes. In just 25 ECHL games he recorded 109 penalty minutes and 63 minutes in 27 AHL games. As a junior in the OHL, Sol registered a total of 577 penalty minutes in 255 games between the Sagniaw Spirit and Kitchener Rangers.

In five OHL seasons, 255 games, Sol earned 77 points (27g, 50a). His best season was his most recent in 2011-12 with the Kitchener Rangers where he posted 38 points (15g, 23a) and a plus-minus rating of +35.

Sol made his professional debut with the AHL's Chicago Wolves in 2010 in their second-to-last game of the season. It wasn't until last season that the defenseman began his first full season professional campaign.
