
Sockers Sign Midfielder Matt Broadhead

(SAN DIEGO, CA) The San Diego Sockers, a member of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today they have reached an agreement with former Utah Freez midfielder Matt Broadhead.
The 24 Â year old Broadhead was drafted by the Kansas City Comets in the 2002 Allocation Draft. The draft included players from both the Utah Freez and Sacramento Knights from the World Indoor Soccer League. Broadhead became a free agent after being left unprotected by Kansas City for the 2003 MISL Expansion Draft.
"Matt has been very impressive in the short time he has been here and gives us cover in the midfield," said Sockers General Manager/ Head Coach Brian Quinn.
Broadhead, a product of Utah Valley State College, began his professional career with the Utah Freez in July of 2000. The 5-7, 150- pound native of Pasadena, Calif. is very familiar with the indoor game, having grown up watching the Los Angeles Lazers of the original MISL.
The San Diego Sockers(3-5) are currently in second place in the MISL's Western Division. The Sockers resume action this Sunday, when they battle the Cleveland Force at the CSU Convocation Center in Cleveland, OH. The game is set to kickoff at 12:05 PM Pacific Time, and can be heard live on ESPN Radio 800, or Worldtalkradio.com.
