BURLINGTON, N.C. - Baseball has long been deemed as 'America's Pastime'. In Burlington, however, it's time to step things up and do this years Independence Day weekend celebration SOCKINGLY different. The Sock Puppets pride themselves on being unique and creating a ballpark environment that has fans leaving with smiles on their face, whether or not the team on the field wins or loses; and they have a lot in store for folks this week.
Starting on July 1st, Burlington and Alamance County will get to enjoy draft beers that start at $1 to kick off the weekend. Following that night, on Friday, July 2nd the Burlington Sock Puppets will wrap up their two game series against the Greeneville Flyboys with the first of two post-game MEGA-FIREWORKS shows. Sponsored by the City of Burlington, get ready to head into the Sock-Spangled Weekend with a BIG bang. July 3rd will feature an incredibly unique event as the USA Men's Collegiate National Team will play a 7-inning exhibition game HERE at Burlington Athletic Stadium.
AND FINALLY.... our 4th of July Celebration (which the game starts at 7:00pm) will begin when the gates open at 5:00pm with a pre-game party! With inflatables, games, music and more, there will be nonstop fun for everyone in attendance. But that is only the beginning, following the game, the second of our two mega-fireworks shows will light up the night sky.
