BURLINGTON, N.C. - Burlington dropped game two of the series against Bluefield on Wednesday night after falling behind in the top of the second inning. Brady Huddlestun started the game for the Puppets on the mound, and gave up a two run blast to outfielder Ben Harris after walking Nate Ackenhausen. The Puppets got second baseman Sam Tanous to ground out to second, and the walk parade began.

Huddlestun walked two before being pulled for Bryson Hammer in relief after two-and-a-third innings. Hammer walked four consecutive batters, and two more runs scored to increase the lead to 4-0 before striking out outfielder Janniel Berroa to end the inning.

In the bottom of the third, a walk by Alex Pup, and a double to right by Alex Haba had the Sock Puppets in business, and Pup came around to score on an errant throw by Ridge Runners right fielder Kendal Ewell, bringing the score to 4-1.

The Puppets scored again in the fourth after Bayron Acevedo scored on a Caleb Farmer fielder's choice. That would cut the Ridge Runners' lead to two.

The Ridge Runners struck again in the eighth inning against Tiernan Lynch after he walked Kendel Ewell to lead off the inning, and Ewell came around to score on Sam Tanous' sac fly.

They scored again in the ninth after a wild pitch from Gabe Emmett to secure their sixth and final run.

Burlington rallied in their final inning with a leadoff single from designated hitter Maui Ahuna, who later scored on an RBI hit from third baseman Oscar Serratos, but a double play and a fly out squashed the rally to end the game in the Ridge Runners' favor 6-3

The Sock Puppets take on the Bristol State Liners on Thursday from Burlington Athletic Stadium at 7PM.
