Johnson City Doughboys News Release
Jaxson Crull picked up four hits, including three doubles, and the Johnson City Doughboys edged out a 12-9 win over the Greeneville Flyboys on the road on Wednesday night.
Crull drove in four runs, including two with his two-bagger in the seventh inning to give the Doughboys enough cushion to hold on for the win. Crull now leads the Appalachian League with 13 RBIs in six games.
Richard Sanchez (SV, 1) pitched the last three innings of the contest for Johnson City (3-3) and picked up his first save in the process, tallying five strikeouts while giving up just one hit and no runs.
Greeneville (3-3) tied the game up 9-9 heading into the seventh inning. However, thanks to a bases-loaded walk to Stephen Ondina and Crull's double, Johnson City pulled ahead for good.
Leo O'Shinski (W, 1-0) was credited with the win for the Doughboys.
Johnson City now returns back to TVA Credit Union Ballpark on Thursday to begin a six-game homestand.
The homestand begins with a two-game series against the Elizabethton River Riders on Thursday. First pitch is set for 7:00 PM ET.
