Beloit Sky Carp News Release

Beloit got back on the winning track Tuesday night with a 3-2 extra-inning victory over the South Bend Silver Hawks. New Snapper reliever, Brad Tippett, picked up his first win of the season pitching two scoreless innings of relief allowing three hits.

South Bend jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a Matt Oxendine RBI-single to third. Oxendine's RBI put the Silver Hawks ahead after one and a half.

The Snappers took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on a Daniel Lehmann RBI-triple to right and a Mark Dolenc RBI-bunt single down the third base line. The two runs put the Snaps ahead 2-1.

The Silver Hawks tied it up at 2-2 in the top of the eight inning on a throwing error from catcher Daniel Lehmann. Lehmann's error allowed Taylor Harbin to score from third.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the tenth inning when the Snappers would come away with the victory. Mark Dolenc led off with a walk, Joe Benson followed with a bunt single, and Ben Revere sacrificed them both up a base with a bunt to the catcher. After an intentional walk to Garrett Olson loaded the bases, Chris Cates struck out swinging for the second out of the inning. Ramon Santana then cracked one down the third base line and South Bend's third baseman Ramon Ramirez botched it allowing the winning run to score.

Starter Steven Hirschfeld pitched an impressive five innings while only allowing one run off seven hits.
