Beloit Sky Carp News Release

Lance Ray provided the late inning heroics with a walk-off hit in the 9th. It looked like the Bees would prevent the Snappers from completing a four-game series sweep as they took a 4-2 lead into the last inning but Beloit battled back.

Aaron Hicks started the rally with a single and Danny Rams followed suit with a hit two batters later. Catcher Josmil Pinto drew a two-out walk to load the bases for utility man Lance Ray. Ray answered the call by crushing a double that cleared the bases and gave Beloit the win in exciting fashion.

A combination of Spangler and See on the mound for Beloit kept them in the game long enough for the offense to steal the show late. Eliecer Cardenas picked up the win by going 1.1 innings and allowing just one hit. The Snappers closer is now 4-0 on the year.

The win puts Beloit in a dead heat with Clinton and Peoria to claim two spots in the Midwest League playoffs.

Lance Ray is tonight's "Brody Trophy Player of the Game'. Ray, starting right fielder, went 3-4 on the night and improved his batting average to .281. Lance played hero in baseball's ultimate end of game situation, coming through with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth in front of a raucous home crowd.

The Snappers will look to keep their winning streak in tact as they head to Iowa for four games with the Kernels tomorrow night. The next home game at Pohlman Field will be August 14th with fireworks immediately following the game.
