Columbus Cottonmouths News Release
The Columbus Cottonmouths have signed center Sam Bowles to a contract. Bowles has played the last six games for the Snakes through two, three-game tryouts. In six games this season, he has picked up one assist. Bowles joined the Snakes in November after starting this season with the Missouri Mavericks of the CHL.
Bowles originally came to Columbus midway through the 2008-09 season and made an immediate impact on the Snakes' offense. Despite playing 16 fewer games, Bowles finished third on the team in scoring with 53 points in 44 games. From February 13 to March 20, Bowles collected points in 16 consecutive games. To make room for the return of Bowles, the Snakes waived rookie Joey Martini.
Two Snakes made their ECHL debuts yesterday for the South Carolina Stingrays. Defenseman Tim Hockley and forward Levi Lind were loaned to South Carolina for Sunday's game. They have both returned to Columbus.
The Cottonmouths play three games in three nights this weekend for the first time this season. They host the Pensacola IceFlyers Thursday, head to Fayetteville Friday, and return home Saturday to face the Mississippi Surge. Thursday, Nov. 26 is our first Dollar Day of the season, with $1 hotdogs, popcorn, nachos and soda, and $2 draft beer. It's also Georgia Lottery Night and a canned food drive will be held for the Valley Rescue Mission.
Saturday, Nov. 28 is our second annual fight night with UFC special guests, Forrest Griffin and Alex Karalexis. This event is presented by Premier Martial Arts, GameLink, Flip Flops, Chester's BBQ and Alloverthevalley.com. Fight Night jerseys will be worn by the Snakes and auctioned following the game. A very limited number of Forrest Griffin Meet and Greet passes remain to be sold. A handful of Meet and Greet tickets will also be given away during Thursday's and Saturday's game.
