
Snakes Embarrassed in Final Game (GAME 3)

Giving up 12 runs in the first four innings the Calgary Vipers were defeated 13-6 by the Chico Outlaws at Foothills Stadium in Calgary, Alberta. With the victory the Outlaws swept the Vipers in the best of five North Division Championship Series and ended Calgary's season. In total the Outlaws recorded 14 hits while the Snakes picked up only six. Dusty Gober (0-1) took the loss after giving up seven runs in two and a third innings. For the first time in four years the Vipers have failed to qualify for a Championship Series.
Chico opened the scoring in the top of the first inning when Blake Gailen walked, Bobby Hill doubled, JJ Sherrill hit a sacrifice fly, Mitch Einertson collected a run batted in double, Einertson advanced to third base on a passed ball, and scored on a Santo DeLeon RBI groundout for a 3-0 advantage.
The Outlaws opened up the game further in the third as Sherrill and Einertson singled, John Urick walked to load the bases, Robby Alcombrack drove in two with a base hit, and Kris Honel collected a two-run double for a 8-0 lead.
Calgary got a pair of runs back in the bottom of the frame when Jonny Kaplan was hit by a pitch and Jorge Mejia hit a home run for a 8-2 score.
Chico continued to score in the fourth inning as Einertson and DeLeon singled, Alcombrack drove in both with a double, Anthony Manuel singled in a run, Honel reached with a base knock, and Gailen plated one with a base hit for a 12-2 advantage.
Another run was added by the Outlaws in the fifth for a 13-2 lead when Einertson was hit by a pitch, Urick walked, and Manuel singled in a run.
The Vipers got closer in the eighth frame as Kaplan and Mejia walked, Brent Metheny singled to load the bases, Julio Ramirez drove in two with a double, Kevin Price grounded out for a RBI, and Ramirez scored on a wild pitch and a balk for a 13-6 score.
