Lexington County Blowfish News Release

ASHEBORO, N.C. - For the first time this season, Lexington County dropped back-to-back games tonight falling to the Asheboro Copperheads 5-4 after a walk-off double doomed the Blowfish.

Lexington County scored first in the 2nd, after Steve Pastora (Western Michigan) plated Derek Olenchuk (Newberry) on an RBI Double up the alley in left-center field.

Asheboro tied the game in the 3rd after Vito Friscia (Hofstra) lined a single into right field that was mishandled and rolled all the way to the wall. Friscia advanced all the way to third after the error and was brought in on the groundout from Kyle Smith (Catawba).

The Copperheads took the lead in the 4th on a TJ Nichting (Catawba) solo shot to right and then scored another when Connor Lind (Northwestern) was brought around to score.

Asheboro added another in the 7th on a Smith solo homerun in the 7th but would surrender the lead in the 9th when Jason Costa (Furman) lined a two-run bomb over the right field wall off of Copperhead's closer Bryan Blanton (Catawba).

Lexington County couldn't hold on to the lead in the bottom of the 9th.

Friscia lead off the inning with a walk, Derek Perry (Pfeiffer) moved him over on the sacrifice bunt, and after a Smith walk, Ryan Colombo (Drury) played hero with a walk off double down the right field line.

Lexington County falls to 8-4 on the season and comes back home to play Forest City tomorrow night. Coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on z93.1 FM The Lake and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
