Smyth Receives AHL's Milestone Award

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The American Hockey League announced that Manchester Monarchs forward Brad Smyth, who began his professional career in the ECHL, has been named the recipient of the CCM/AHL Milestone of the Month award for November.

The 32-year-old began his professional career in 1993-94 and had 56 points (26g-30a) in 29 regular season games and 16 points (8g-8a) in 10 playoff games with Birmingham of the ECHL and also played in the International Hockey League with Cincinnati where he had 10 points (7g-3a) in 30 games. He returned to Birmingham in 1994-95 and had 68 points (33g-35a) in 36 regular season games and seven points (5g-2a) in three playoff games while also playing in the IHL with Cincinnati where he had 13 points (2g-11a) in 26 regular season games and Springfield of the AHL where played in three games.

Smith became the 40th player in the history of the AHL to reach 600 career points when he scored a first-period goal at Lowell on Nov. 20. He has 22 points (7g-15a) in 20 games for Manchester giving him 603 points (299g-304a) in 550 career AHL games. He is the leading career scorer among active AHL players (38th) and with his next goal will become only the 17th player in league history to score 300 career AHL goals.
