Fraser, MI â The United Hockey League announced Monday that Motor City Mechanics veteran forward Bryan Smolinski has been named the Sher-Wood Player of the Week. Smolinski netted 11 points in four games as the Mechanics went 3-1 this week.
The Toledo, OH native and former Ottawa Senator tallied five points (1g, 4a) in Wednesday's 6-1 victory at Port Huron. On Friday night, Smolinski scored the game winning goal with just 1:10 remaining in the game against the top ranked Adirondack Frostbite. In Saturday's 10-2 route of Richmond, Smolinski pulled out another five point night (1g, 4a), helping the Mechanics roll to their sixth straight win. Smolinski was +6 over the week and currently has 25 points (7g, 18a) in 15 games with the Mechanics this season.
This is the second time this season a Mechanic has been awarded these honors. Captain Blair Manning was named Player of the Week on February 28th.
The Mechanics are home March 30th, April 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th for their final home games of the season. Tickets still remain for all upcoming home games!
