
Smokies Win Series over Chattanooga on Sunday

KODAK, TN - The Smokies finished the series versus the Chattanooga Lookouts with a victory, 6-3. The Smokies were out-hit 9-6, but seven walks and a Haydn McGeary home run lifted Tennessee past Chattanooga.
The first three innings of the ballgame were scoreless until Haydn McGeary blasted a two run home run to take a 2-0 lead. With the bases loaded in the fifth inning, BJ Murray and Owen Caissie walked to score two more runs, taking a 4-0 lead.
Chattanooga got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning with a three run towering home run by Miguel Hernandez, his first of the year to make it a one run ballgame at 4-3. The Smokies picked up some WIN Insurance in the seventh and eighth innings, taking a 6-3 lead. Smokies reliever Blake Whitney picked up his first save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Tennessee starter Walker Powell won his eighth game of the season, tossing six innings and striking out seven batters without a walk. Chattanooga starter Sam Benschoter got the loss in 4.2 innings, giving up three hits and four runs. The Smokies win the series 4-2, and are now 22-11 in the second half of the season. Tennessee will play Biloxi for the first time this season on Tuesday night.
