
Smokies Drop Third Straight Game in 5-2 Loss

MADISON, AL- The Tennessee Smokies have lost their third straight game after winning the first two games of the series on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Trash Pandas bullpen tossed 2.1 innings of scoreless baseball with four strikeouts to preserve a 5-2 Rocket City victory.
The Smokies struck early in the first inning after a lead-off triple by Cubs top prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong, followed by an RBI groundout by Owen Caissie to make it 1-0 Tennessee. Rocket City came right back in the home half of the first inning with a Livan Soto single to score Edgar Quero and tie the ballgame up at 1.
In the top of the fourth inning, Smokies outfielder Cole Roedere hit his first triple of the season to score Pablo Aliendo and take back a 2-1 lead. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth inning, Rocket City third baseman Kevin Maitan hit a 2 RBI single down the line to make it 3-2 Trash Pandas. The Trash Pandas would score solo runs in the fifth and sixth innings to extend the lead to 5-2.
Rocket City closer Kolton Ingram shut the door 1-2-3 in the ninth inning to record his second save of the season. This was Ingram's third appearance in the last four games and has shutout the Smokies in all three appearances. Trash Pandas starter Landon Marceaux threw his best outing in his Double-A career, tossing 6.2 innings and giving up two runs and striking out four batters to win his third game of the season.
