
Smokies Drop Series Finale in Come from Behind Loss

Madison, AL - The Smokies dropped the series finale in Rocket City with a 5-4 loss. The Smokies led by two runs heading into the home half of the eight inning until Rocket City hit two home runs to take a 5-4 lead.
The Smokies reached the scoreboard in the second inning on a solo blast by Jordan Nwogu to tie the game at one. Tennessee took their first lead of the night when right fielder Owen Caissie hit a two-run shot to left field, taking a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning. In the top of the eight inning, lead-off batter Bradlee Beesley hit a solo home run to take a 4-2 lead.
The game went south for Tennessee in the bottom of the eight when Rocket city hit two home runs from Kyren Paris and Zach Humphreys to take a 5-4 lead in the eight inning for Rocket City. In the ninth inning, the Smokies had the game tying run on third base with one out but a pop-out in the infield and a line-out to right field ended the ballgame.
The Smokies dropped game six of the series 5-4, but ultimately won the series 4-2. Tennessee returns home to take on Montgomery in a six game series starting on Tuesday. The series opener is set for 7 P.M.
